The physiological and anatomical changes due to ploidal differences in mulberry (Morus alba L.) var. S1 were studied. Photosynthesis transpiration, water use effeciency, protein, sugar and NRA were highest in the triploid. Initial growth was highest in triploid, though after 45 days ofthe growth, it showed gradual decline. Leaf yield, leaf size and leaf thickness were also better in triploid. Thus, it was concluded that triploidy is the best ploidal level in mulberry as most of the characters were at its maximum expression.
