Abstract

Effect of lime induced iron chlorosis on enzyme activities was studied in Banana cv. Rasthali. Iron content decreased progressively as the intensity of chlorosis increased. Iron content had positive correlation with catalase, peroxidase, acid phosphatase, polyphenol oxidase and nitrate reductase. Among the enzymes, the activity of peroxidase had highest positive significant (r= 997**) association with Fe content. Hence, peroxidase activity could serve as a diagnostic tool to indentify the Fe deficiency/Fe status in Banana.
