Physiological analysis of growth and productivity in hybrid rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Abstract

field experiment was conducted with five rice hybrids (MGR-1, APHR-2, KHR-1, TNRH-16 and DRRH-1) and a local check (NLR 33358) to analyse their growth and productivity during rabi, 1996. The results revealed that among the cultivars studied TNRH-16 recorded maximum plant height (85.7 cm), CGR (29.2 g m−2 day−1), LAI (3.93), LAD (100 dm2) and SLW (0.5 g m−2). Hybrid TNRH-16 also produced maximum dry matter of 14065 kg ha−1 as compared to other cultivars. The yield components viz., filled grains per panicle, number of panicles per m2 and 1000 grain weight was higher in TNRH-16, as a result recorded highest yield of 6470 kg ha−1 compared to check variety NLR 33358 (4627 kg ha−1).
