The effect of phosphorus (P) deficiency and different concentrations of P on acid phosphatase activity (ACPH) was estimated in shoots and roots of 10, 12 and 14 day old seedlings ofsesame (Sesamum indicum L. cv. TMV 3). In P free seedlings, the activity is more than P supplied seedlings. The extent ofincrease in ACPH activity in P free treatment compared to P supplied treatment was more in root than in shoot. An inverse correlation was observed between the enzyme activity and the amount of P accumulation in shoot and root of sesame.
