Effect of nitrogen and potassium nutrition on sheath rot incidence and phenol content in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Abstract

Field experiment was conducted during late Kharif, 1999, to study the effect of nitrogen and potassium on sheath rot incidence and phenol content in rice. The results revealed that the disease incidence increased with increase in nitrogen level from 0 to 300 kg/ha, while decreased with increase in potassium level from 0 to 140 kg/ha. The phenol content in leaf and leaf sheath increased with increase in potassium application from 0 to 140 kg/ha while decreased with increase in nitrogen application from 0 to 300 kg/ha.
