Effect of the insecticide monocrotophos on hydrolytic enzymes of leaf litter fungi of tobacco

The effect of monocrotophos on the activity of four hydrolytic enzymes produced by selected leaf litter microfungi of tobacco were investigated. The results showed that monocrotophos significantly inhibited the activity of the enzymes pectin methyl esterase, polygalacturonase, endo-β-1,4 glucanase and exo-β-1,4 glucanase. The extent of the effect varied, depending upon fungal species and enzyme.
