A field study was conducted to assess the effect of P-solubilizing bacteria ‘Pseudomonas striata’ alone or with super phosphate and rock phosphate on rainfed soybean grown on vertisols. The results revealed that highest dry biomass (Straw + pod husk + shedded residues) and nitorgen contents at different crop stages were recorded with SSP @ 60 kg P2O5/ha + PSB inoculation followed by same level applied through rock phosphate with PSB inoculation which seems to be equally effective to the SSP alone. The nitrogen accumulation pattern in different parts ofthe soybean (cv. JS 75–46) was in order of seed > shoot (60 days) > dry matter (at harvest) > pod husk. Maximum phosphorus use efficiency was superior under lower dose than the higher dose of P and was highest in SSP @ 30 kg P2O5/ha + Pseudomonas striata (PSB) inoculation and lowest with rock phosphate @ 60 kg P2O5/ha alone.
