Four genotypes each of four Brassica species were tested under two moisture regimes i.e. i) irrigated (Three irrigations at branching, bolting and siliqua filling), (ii) limited irrigation (one at branching). Results revealed that growth, development and yield of all Brassica speices were adversely affected under limited water conditions. The yield potential of Brassica-species under limited water environment was optimum in Brassica campestris followed by Brassica juncea, Brassica carinata and Brassica napus. In contrast to this, under normal irrigated condition, the expression of yield was optimum in Brassica juncea. This clearly indicates that yield expression of Brassica species differ under varying soil-water environment. Therefore, the cultivation of Brassica species should be done after testing genotypes based on their behaviour in various soil-water-environment.
