Abstract

An experiment was conducted during 1999 and 2000 to find out the reltionship between sugar accumulation and anthocyanin biosynthesis in Cv. Pusa Navrang of grape. A sharp increase in the total sugar concentration in the berry was observed from 8th week onwards. The concentration of anthocyanin increased sharply during the 9th week coninciding with the va raison stage indicating sugar accumultion in the berry to be a factor for anthocyanin biosynthesis in grape berry.
