Aluminium phosphide formulations as pellets are recommended for rodent control. The present investigation indicated that a dosage of 4 mg/L and a relative humidity of 70–75% was needed for the effectiveness of phosphine from Aluminium phosphide formulations. Two 0.6gm pellets working out to a dosage of 4 mg/L took 4 hrs to kill rats at 75% RH and 2 hrs at 85% RH. The studies have also revealed that quick generation of phosphine warns rats. Phosphine did not exert any delayed or post-exposure mortality.
