Efficacy of three granular insecticides has been tested against Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn, the incitant of root rot of French bean, both in vitro and under field conditions. Carbofuran inhibited the radial growth of the fungus more significantly at all the concentrations than phorate or disulfoton. In both field trials pre-emergence mortality was minimum in carbofuran applied @ 2 Kg ai/ha followed by phorate and disulfoton. Post-emergence mortality ranged from 3.8 to 8.46% in different treatments as compared to 16.2 to 30.17% in control. Yield of green pods was also higher in these treatments than control.
