Rhizoctonia solani, the incitant of sheath blight disease of rice was taken up in this study. Czapek's medium devoid of sucrose supplemented with 3 per cent citrus pectin for the production of Polygacturenase (PG) Pectin trans eliminase (PTE), Polygalacturonase trans eliminase (PGTE). The pathogen - R. solani was inoculated and the fungicides viz. Hinosan EC, Kitazin EC, Benlate, Thiabendazole, Bavistin, Demosan and wettable ceresan were added to the medium at 100 ppm concentration. The dialysed culture filtrate was used as enzyme source. The fungicides incorporated into the culture filtrate of Pectin-Czapek's medium to give 100 ppm concentration and estimated the activity of PG, PGTE, and PTE. The different fungicides tried were inhibitory to the production and activity of pectinolytic enzymes of R. solani. Kitazin has effectively inhibited the production of PG, PGTE and PTE. Hinosan has markedly inhibited the production of PTE followed by Bavistin. The production of PG was considerably suppressed by Thiabendazole. The activity of PG and PGTE was significantly inhibited by kitazin and Demosan respectively.
