Dissipation of Carbaryl Residues From Oranges During Storage.

Abstract

Oranges treated in laboratory with 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2 per cent of carbaryl had resulted in the average deposits of 5.26,7.83 and 12.59 ppm, which got dissipated to the extent of 41.97 to 60.46 per cent within 6–8 days and had 20 days residues of 3.87, 5.45 ppm and 7.53 ppm. The corresponding half life values were 0.19, 0.19 and 0.42 day. Carbaryl had also penetrated from rind into the pulp of oranges to the maximum level of 25.36 per cent. The accumulation of the insecticide was highest in the pulp after 6 days of treatment but the residues were below the tole-rance limit in the pulp of oranges.
