Abstract

Assessment of losses caused by pod borer, Heliothis armigera Hb. and pod-fly, Melanagromyza obtusa Mall. in 8 different varieties of pigeonpea at the Haryana Agricultural University, Hissar, Haryana, indicated that H. armigero caused greater damage to Pant A-3 and Prabhat, determinate, extra early maturing varieties than to ICPL-SEB-EB and M. obtusa caused greater damage to TT-3-3 than to Pant A-3 and Prabhat. Total grain losses combined by two pests were caused maximum to the extent of 9.46% to Pant A-3 and minimum to ICPL-SEB-EB, losses differered from variety to variety.
