Recommended cotton varieties in Haryana state viz., H-777, H-854, H-842, HD-11 and G-27 were tested for their susceptibility against the jassid, Amrasca biguttula biguttula. H-854 had the maximum jassid population, whereas var. G-27 hosted the minimum. Even with the maximwn population, var. 854 yielded maximum. The middle canopy leaves in American and top canopy leaves in desi varieties were found having greater nymphal populaton. Observations on distribu-tion pattern of jassid on cotton plants showed that the insect preferred the morning light intensity as its population in East-South direction was significantly greater than the West-North one at around 10 A,M.
