Studies were conducted on the comparative responses of two polyphagous species of mites belonging to two genera of the family Tetranychidae namely Tetranychus cinnabarinua (Boisduval) and Eutetranychus anneckei Meyer to newer pesticides. The enxperimental data indi.; cated that phosphamidon, monocrotophos and phosalone were highly effective against both the species of mites and orthodibron was the most toxic only against E. anneckei. The other pesti-cides like phenthoate, DDVP, malathion, fenitrothion, methyl parathion, dicofol, fenthion and trichlorfon were also toxic to both species of mites but they were comparatively less toxic than the former ones. Sulfex, carbaryl and tetradifon were the least toxic.
