Three field trials were conducted on the efficacy of electrodyn application of cypermethrin, in comparison with other conventional spraying methods, during 1983–84 at and around Madurai (Tamil Nadu). Cymbush (R) as electrodyn formulation (ED) was found superior to EC Formulations against the cotton aphids, Aphis gossypii and thrips, Thrips tabaci. Against mites, Tetranychus cinnabarinus, resurgence was observed in most of the treatments, while the lowest dose of ED formulation caused least resurgence. Good control of the American boll-worm, Heliothis armigera was observed with ED formulations. Similar good control of pink bollworm (Pectinophora gossypiella) was also observed, probably for the first time with this for-mulation. Besides being economical, ED formulations could be applied to cover more area in unit time.
