Residues of Prorate and Fenitrotrion in Groundnut and Cowpea

Abstract

Field experiments were carried out at Faridabad (Haryana) to estimate the residues of phorate and fenitrothion in groundnut and cowpea crops with a view to determine desirable waiting periods. A minimum waiting period of 60 and 65 days is recommended for both ground-nut and cowpea pods after phorate treatment. After fenitrothion treatment, a waiting period of 10 and 15 days is suggested for groundnut and cowpea pods, respectively. At harvest, groundnut and cowpea grains as well as straw did not contain detectable levels of residues of these insecticides.
