Abstract

Population of 4ntigastra catalaunalis (Dup.) on sesame was studied during 1983 and 1984 to work out economic injury level (EIL). Through multiple regression analysis, key pests were determined during 1983. During 1984, one of the key pests, Spilosoma obliqua (WLK) was not allowed to infect the crop and through multiple regression analysis, A. catalaunalis infestation was found to show clear relationship to yield. EIL for two recommended insecticides, carbaryl and endosulfan was estimated to be 1.75 and 2.75 per cent plants infestation (with living larvae) during 32 to 77 days after sowing of the crop. The common EIL value of 2.25 larvae per quadrant (one Sq. mt.) was arrived at for ease of adoption.
