Abstract

Four experiments were conducted during 1979 and 1980 to evalute the efficacy of various dispensers for trapping of pink bollworm males. of the five media (narrow gauge teflon capillary tubes, filter paper, gelatin capsules, polythene capsule and cotton tested, the first two gave higher catches of male moths. Polythene beam vials were also as effective dispensers as filter paper. The commercially available dispensers, Pherocon PEW caps and PBW lures were superior to filter-paper over a period of five weeks but upto two weeks all the three were equally effective. Stickem, liquid paraffin, used-mobil oil, and kerosinized water were tested as trapping media. Stickem followed by liquid paraffin was found to be better than other media.
