Among the four insecticides tested viz., monocrotophos, carbaryl, acephate and dimethoate against the Singhara beetle, (Galeruclila birmanica Jacoby), a serious pest of water chestnut (Trapa bispinosa Roxburgh.), monocrotophos and carbaryl proved more effective than the rest. When these two were further compared, monocrotqphos @ 400 g a.i./ha had reduced pest population significantly and thus, proved superior over carbaryl @ 1200 g a.i./ha.
