Field trials were conducted to study the efficacy of different formulations of quinalphos and endosulfan against sorghum stem borer Chilo partellus Swin. and sor-ghum midge Contarinia sorghicola Coq. The effectiveness of the various insecticid31 treatments against C. partellus was based on per cent leaf injury and dead heart formation at 30 and 45 days after germination and stem tunnelling at harvest. Quinalphos 5 G and endosulfan 4 G gave good control followed by quinalphos 0.1 per cent spray and quinalphos 1.5 per cent dust. Efficacy of different insecticidal form1.ilations against midge was based on grain damage. Quinalphos 0.1 per cent spray was the most effective followed by quinalphqs 1.5 per cent dust. Grain and fodder yield were maximum in 0.1 per cent quinalphos spray followed by quinalphos 5 G and endosulfan 4 G.
