Persistence and Movement of Monocrotophos Residues From Skin to Pulp of Mango Fruits*

Abstract

Monocrotophos at 0.05, 0.075 and 0.1 per cent spray resulted in average deposits of 7.70 to 7.98; 11.90 to 12.05 and 13.60 to 14.07 ppm, respectively on skin of unripe mango fruits. The detectable residues of monocrotophos were found to persist for 10 to 15 days. The half life values varied from 2.9 to 4.0 days and wait-ing period for safe consumption of fruit skin varied from 9.1 to 15.1 days. On ripe fruits, average deposits werr 7.5 to 14.6 ppm. The half life values for ripe fruits varied from 4.0 to 5.0 days and waiting period 12.5 to 16.0 days. Migration of cuticular residues recorded in pulp was all the time below tolerance limit in unripe as well as ripe fruits.
