Evaluation of Insecticides Against Rice Ear-Cutting Caterpillar, Mythimna Venelba (Moore)

Insecticides as foliar sprays and granules were evaluated against rice ear-cutting caterpillar, Mythimna venelba (Moore). Most of the insecticides tested as foliar spray showed Mythimna immediate knock-down effect but a few like carbosulfan, endo-sulfan sprayand chlorpyrifos remained effective for more days. None of the granular treatments sulfan and showed chlorpyrifos satisfactory control either in ternlS of immediate knock-down eatments effect or persistence. All the insecticides exhibited sharp decrease in effectiveness when applied in the field.
