Field experiments conducted at Patna (Bihar) revealed that single application of foliar systemic insecticides (0.03 and 0.05%) and granular system1c insecticides (@ 1.0 and 1.5 kg a.i./ha) alone in different protocols did not protect the crop from Myzus persicae(Sulzer) for the entire cropping season. However, fine sprays of oxydemeton-methyl (0.03%) at 15 days interval or application of phorate 10 G @ 1.0 kg a.i./na in furrows at planting+two sprays with oxydemeton-methyl (0.03%) at 15 days interva1 or soil applicatIon of phorate 10 G (@,1.0 kg a.i./ha) at planting. and earthing up+two sprays with oxydemeton-methyl (0.03%) at 15 days interval kept the aphids below the critical level (20 aphids/lCO compound leaves) throughout the season.
