The partitioning of phorate and carbaryl residues in plant system after their up-take by tomato plant from soil applied granular formulations was studied under tropical climate. Tomato fruit tend to accumulate phorate and carbaryl residues at bio-concentration levels on appearance as compared to other plant parts, however, the residues, were reduced fast by chemical degradation and dilution effects at periodic pickings of the fruits. The soil retained phorate residues were found persisting in higher amounts as compared to carbaryl. The crop cover of soil was found to hasten the removal of insecticides at early stage but prevented the loss from surface of the soil.
