Pot experiments were conducted to study the effect of soil application of granules of phorate 10 G, quinalphos 5 G and aldicaib 10 G @ 0.5. 1.0 and 1.5 Kg a.i./ha on nodulation and plant growth characters in lucerne, berseem and cowpea at the 1984–85 seasons. Pots treated with phorate @ 1.0 Kg a.i./ha had greater nodulation in berseem and cowpea. and aldicarb @ 0.5 Kg a.i./ha in lucerne. Nodulation decreased with an increase in insecticide dosage. Plant height, root length and leaf stem weights were greater at lower dosage (0.5 Kg a.i./ha) in lucerne and berseem. In cowpea, plant development was accelerated at higher dosages of phorate and aldicarb whereas, it was inhibited with a higher dosages of quinalphos.
