Abstract

Two new insect growth regulators, teflubenzuron and flufenoxuron were tested in the field for two seasons at Hosur in Tamil Nadu for the control of diamondback moth, Plutella xylo.!tella L. which has developed resistance to a large number of insecticides. Both compounds were found to be highly effective against diamond-back moth and performed significantly compared with diflubenzuron. Application of teflubenzuron @ 45g a.i./ha and flufenoxuron @ 20g a.i./ha resulted in siginificant yield increase and superior crop quality.
