Abstract

Relative trap efficiency of ICRISAT standard trap and sleeve trap fpr trapping males of Spodoptera litura and Helicoverpa armigera using synthetic sex pheromones and their rhythm of male attraction has been assessed. ICRISAT standard traps have been found to be more efficient by 1.2 times over sleeve traps in mass trapping of both S. litura and H.armi-gera particularly on the days with distinct peaks for both the pests with a highest moth catch at 2–00 am to 4.00 am followed by 10–00 pm to 12.00 midnight for S. litura and 2.00 am to 4.00 am followed by 12.00 midnight to 2.00 am for H. armigera. The standard blend (97 3) trapped significantly more number of H. armigera than the other blends and moth catches decreased with the increase in the minor component of sex pheromone.
