Some of the new fungicides were evaluated in vitro and in vivo against Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn, the incitant of damping-off of mungbean. Flutolanil (1 um a.i. ml−1), tolclofos-methyl and carbendazim (5 urn a.i. ml−1) and pencycllron (50 urn a.i. ml−1) completely inhibited growth of R. solani. Flutolanil, thiophanate M, carbendazim, tolclofos-methyl and pencycuron could control damping-off effectively as seed treatment (2 and 3g a.i./kg seed) and as soil drench (200 and 300um a.i. ml−1). Mancozeb and zineb were least effective both in in vitro and in vivo.
