A field trial was conducted at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi to determine the damage done by termites and Oriental army ant, Dorylus orientalis Westwood to groundnut pods in sole crop and intercropping system during kharif 1987, and summer and kharif, 1988. The damage due to holes made by termites and scarified pods were more in sorghum intercropped plots and sole crop than in other intercrops in all the seasons. The damage due to D. orientalis was also more in sorghum intercropped with groundnut. The holes made by D. orientalis is reported for the first time in this part of the world.
