About 68 weed species were identified to be associated with different crops in Yemen. Unrestricted weed growth in early stages of crop growth can cause severe losses in yield. The extent of reduction in yield varied from 31% to 86%. Losses in yield due to weed interference are greater than those caused by the combined effect of insect pests and plant diseases.
