Trials were conducted duringkharif 1991 and 1992 at the Agriculture Research Station (OUAT), Berhampore, Ganjam, Orissa, India to study the effect of sowing time on the incidence of shoot fly (Atherigona miliacae Malloch) in little millet. Early-sown crop (up to 21st July) was less vulnerable than late-sown crops. Grain yield of the late-sown crops was comparable to the early-sown crops in both years. Differences in shoot fly damage among the varieties were not significant. On yield basis, SS 81-1 was considered to be a suitable variety for this region.
