Insecticide resistance in Helicoverpa armigera Hb. larvae, collected from different regions of Andhra Pradesh, was studied during the 1990–93 seasons. The resistance factor (RF) varied over seasons and locations. RF values for endosulfan, monocrotophos, carbaryi, and cypermethrin ranged from 14.2 to 109.2, 4.2 to 557, 10.9 to 398.7, and 65 to 463.8, respectively. Increase in resistance in low insecticide usage areas indicated the spread of this pest due to migration. Insecticide resistance management is of prime importance in Andhra Pradesh.
