Effect of Sebuphos on Soil Nematodes Following Furrow Application in Cowpea, Okra, Pea, Soybean and Tomato

Abstract

Sebuphos was amply effective against both ecto and endoparasitic nematodes in three cropping seasons following furrow application @ 1.0 kga.i./ha, with cowpea (Vigna unprinculata L.), pea (Pisumsativum L.), Okra (Abebnoschusesculentus L.) and tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum. L.) Within a week, the nematicidal application knocked down considerable population (50–60%) of plant parasitic nematodes in soil. Maximum reduction was observed in about one month. Although nematodes population started increasing from 15th day onwards, the final populations of endoparasites as recorded on 90th day were lower by 43 to 57%. In fact, the population level always remained lower in treated plots than in untreated ones.
