Abstract

Karnal bunt of wheat caused by Novossia indica (Mitra) Mundkur has become a major disease of wheat in recent years. Bio-efficacy and persistence of propiconazole was tested against this disease for two seasons. Fungicide was applied @ 0.125 and 0.250 kg a.i./ha. Propiconazole sprayed at the boot leaf stage was found to be effective in controlling the infection of Karnal bunt from 87% to 93%, and had no residual effect.
