The cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover is a destructive pest during the early stages of crop growth. The biology of Chrysoperla carnea (Stephens), one of the most effective predators of this pest, was studied in laboratory conditions in Eastern Ghats highland zone of Orissa. A larva consumed on an average 293 aphids during its life span of 10.86 days. Pupal period was 8.22 days, and the adult male and female lived for 32.80 and 39.14 days, respectively. A single female laid on an average 7.35 eggs (range 30–117 eggs).
