New Observations and Variations in Disease Syndrome of Downy Mildew of Pearl Millet

To record new observations and variation from the normal symptoms the pearl millet susceptible variety HB 3 was grown below “Nelton shading net” under semi-controlled conditions. Downy mildew infection inhibited the opening and expansion of newly emerging leaves of pearl millet. Emergence of albino leaves in infected seedlings were also observed. Increased length of top three internodes and reduced length of rest of the internodes of basal tiller was recorded. Brown discoloration and reduction in length of seminal roots, and restricted development of fine laterals was also observed.
