Abstract

The efficacy of four insecticides in E.C. and two in SP formulation as seed dressing against stemfly, Melanagromyza sojae (Zehntner) (Diptera: Agromyziidae) in soybean was evaluated in field trials at R R S Chiplima (Orissa) during kharif seasons of 1991 and 1992. Carbosulfan 50 SP followed by isofenphos 40 SP were found to be effective in controlling stemfly both at seedling and vegetative stages without hampering the seed germination. These insecticides have also recorded significantly higher grain yield. The chemicals viz; endosulfan, quinalphos and chlorpyriphos in E C formulations were also effective with little adverse effect on seed germination.
