Abstract

The phenotypic co-efficient of variation was higher (43.39%) than the corresponding genotypic co-efficient of variation (34.56%). Similarly, the estimates of Hcretibility and Genetic Advance were also very high. There was a significant and highly positive correlation (0.96) of New Wilt with number of bolls/plant. The observed and expected frequencies of New Wilt in the population of the parents and their crosses showed a close fit indicating that the New Wilt is inherited in 15:1 ratio (Healthy:Wilted) as per the proposed Duplicate Factor Model.
