Effect of Botanicals on Behavioural Response and on Growth of the Jassid, Amrasca biguttula biguttula Ishida.

Studies were carried out to evaluate plant extracts for their oviposition deterrent, repellent and growth inhibitory effect on jassid, Amrasca bigutlala biguttula Ishida at Anand during 1994. Bhendi crop sprayed with Neemark 1% Repelin 1%, Ardusa (Alianthus excelsa Roxb.) leaves suspension 5%, Nemol 1% and Neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) seed kernel suspension 5% showed ovposition deterrent effect on female jassid. Spray of neem leaves suspension 5%, Repelin 1%, neem oil 0.5% Neemark 1%, Margoside 0.1%, neem seed kernel suspension 5%, Nemol 1% and a mixture of Matsyagandhati 3% (Gynandropsispentaphylla L.)with yellow flower Karen 2%(Nerium indicum Mill) leaves suspension showed repellent effect. Spray of Repelinl%, Margoside 0.1%, Neemark 1%, Ardusa leaves suspension 5% and neem seed kernel suspension 5% on bhendi showed growth inhibitory effect on jassids and resulted into lower percentage of normal adult emergence.
