Field experiments were conducted to study the efficacy of nine commonly used fungicides in managing the fruit rot and dieback diseases in chilli caused by Colletotrichum capsici at Agrl. College and Research Institute, Vallanad, Tamil Nadu. Maximum control was achieved with mancozeb (0.2%) to an extent of 19.70 (PDI) and 24.80 (PDI) of fruit rot and 8.20 and 12.10 per cent of dieback in the years 1992 and 1993 respectively. Mancozeb is closely followed by carbendazim (0.2%) and copper oxychloride (0.2%).
