Efficacy of oxydemeton methyl, methomyl, dimethoate and azadirachtin as bare-root dip treatment and phorate 10 G as soil application was assessed for reducing nematode densities of plant parasitic nematodes on brinjal Cv. Pusa purple long. Azadirachtin, methomyl and phorate caused more than 50% increase in plant biomass production. Dimethoate and oxydemeton methyl were phytotoxic. All the treatments reduced root-knot gall and egg mass indices by 31 -74% and reniform nematode female and egg mass index by 67–92%. Phorate 10 G was most effective and it reduced the nematode density by 81% and increased brinjal yield by 33%.
