An experiment was conducted during kharif1993 and 1994 at Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, with the aim of management of sheath rot disease of rice through balanced application of nutrients viz., nitrogen and potassium. Nitrogen levels employed were 80, 100, 120 amd 140 kg ha1, whereas potassium levels employed were 40, 60, 80 and 100 kg ha1 with a common dose of phosphorus i.e., 60 kg ha1. Soil application of graded levels of nitrogen from 80–140 kg ha−1 increased the disease index at a constant level of potassium, but the trend was reverse with the graded levels of potassium at a constant level of nitrogen. There was an increasing trend in yield with varied proportions for each increased dose of both nitrogen and potassium. Benefit cost ratio was highest with 100 kg N and 100 kg K (8.31) followed by 120 kg N and 100 kg K, 0 (7.0).
