An experiment was conducted to find out the most effective and economical mixture of synthetic and botanical insecticides against cotton bollworms, Helicoverpa armigera Hubner and Earias vittella Fabricius in Gujarat during 1993–94 to 1995–96 on cotton H-6. Among the eight insecticide mixtures, need based spray of neem oil 0.5% and polytrin C 44 EC (Cypermethrin 40 g + Profenophos 400 g) 0.088% could effectively manage the bollworms population and yielded higher (2711 kg/ha) seed cotton with the highest net ICBR (1: 5.47).
