Fourteen insecticides in combination with a sticker compound, triton AE along with control were evaluated against the shoot and fruit borer (Leucinodes orbonalis Guen.) of brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) at medium high altitude hills of Meghalaya on variety Pusa Purple Long. Deltamethrin @ 10 g a.i./ha in combination with sticker triton AE @ 0.5 per cent was found the most effective insecticide in controlling shoot and fruit borer followed by fenvalerate @ 50 g a.i./ha and cypei-nethrin @ 50 g a.i./ha. The per cent infestation in shoots were (0.27–1.74%), (0.48–3.12%) and (0.56–3.59%), respectively. Among the conventional insecticides, endosulfan @ 0.5 kg a.i./ha and fenitrothion @ 0.05 kg a.i./ha were found effective. Deltamethrin @ 10 g a.i./hi, fenvalerate @ 50 g a.i./ha and cypermethrin @ 50 g a.i./ha in combination with sticker triton AE @ 0.5 per cent were found highly effective and registered the higher yield of healthy fruits i.e. more than 2.31 kg/m2. Among the conventional insecticides, endosulfan, monocrotophos and fenitrothion @ 0.5 kg a.i./ha were found effective and had the yield more than 1.77 kg/m2. Diflubenzuron @ 75 g a.i./ha was found least effective. Fenvalerate @ 50 g a.i./ha was found as the most economical insecticide having the cost benefit ratio upto 1:40.08 followed by deltamethrin @ 10 g a.i./ha with cost benefit ratio upto 1:27.26.
