Abstract

Influence of various rice crop residue treatments on yellow stem borer, Scirpophaga incertulas (Walker) damage in rice was studied in three Kharif seasons. During Kharif 1998, where no crop residues were incorporated the damage was low (6.37% - 11.34% WE). During kharif 1999 and 2000, 100% straw + green manure treatment had recorded maximum damage and also highest yields. Higher yields could be attributed to the maximum number of healthy panicles/m2. Greater number of panicles recorded could be due to the greater quantity of available nutrients in terms of NPK.
