Abstract

Field trials were conducted at Agricultural Research Institute, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad to study the biology of sweet potato weevil, Cylas formicarius (Fabricius), a serious pest of sweet potato. It was found that the pre-oviposition, oviposition, post-oviposition periods ranged between 3–11, 61–92, 0–6 days, respectively; fecundity ranged between 100- 178 per female with an average of 143.6. The longevity of females and males was found to be 83.2 and 85.2 days with a sex ratio of 1:1.07.
