Quarantine processing of 8, 50, 524 samples of introduced Triticum spp. (Wheats) during 1976–2003 resulted in the interception of economically important fungal pathogens viz., Claviceps purpurea, Fusarium nivale not known to occur in India; Ustilago segetum. var. tritici, Fusarium oxysporum, Neovossia indica, Tilletia caries, T. foetida, Drechslera sorokiniana and D. oryzae having physiological races; Septoria nodorum with limited distribution and Botrytis cinerea, D. sorokiniana, F. solani and F. moniliforme having wide host range. Economic significance of interceptions is discussed.
