Three doses of Fipronil 80% WG i.e. 37.5, 50.0 and 62.5 g/ha (30, 40, 50 g a.i./ha) were evaluated against stem borer and leaf folder on basmati rice in the farmers’ fields from 2004 to 2006. All the three doses of fipronil 80% WG were on par with each other and showed less leaf folder infestation (0.52–0.61 per cent leaf folder damage) anoss different years and locations. While, higher dose of fipronil i.e. 62.5 g/ha (2.61 per cent white ear infestation), followed by fipronil @ 50 g/ha (2.92) and monocrotophos @ 1400 ml/ha (2.56) showed significantly low white ear infestation than lower dose of fipronil i.e. 37.5 g/ha (3.45). Higher dose of fipronil 80% WG i.e. 62.5 g/ha (49.9 q/ha), followed by its 50 g/ha dose (47.8 q/ha) gave better yield than its lower dose i.e. 37.5 g/ha (45.9 q/ha) and standard monocrotophos @ 1400 ml/ha (44.2 q/ha) across different years and locations.
